A July session that started at sunrise on the Alfama viewpoints and finished by the river, walking downhill the whole way.
The route
Miradouro das Portas do Sol
The rooftops and the river while the viewpoint was still empty.
Santa Luzia
The pergola and the blue-and-white tile benches a few steps away.
Alfama lanes
A red door under bougainvillea, then the Sé cathedral.
Baixa
A yellow tram, Rua Augusta and its arch.
The river
Praça do Comércio and the Cais das Colunas steps.
Light and timing
In mid-July the sun rises around 6:25 in Lisbon. The first half of the session had soft, low light over the rooftops; by the time we reached the river the light was higher and brighter.
